The future is as bright as our past…

On April 4, 1965 Faith Chapel was constituted into a church and adopted the name Temple Baptist. Our first worship service was held at Mill Creek School under the leadership of planting pastor, Rev. T.L. Ulmer. Ground was broken for the sanctuary and the educational building on March 24, 1966. The first services were held in the new building on December 1966 under the leadership of Rev. Glenn Anderson. Temples first baptismal service was held on May 14, 1967, 30 people were baptized.

On November 10, 1970, Rev. Mike McGee was called to pastor Temple Baptist. Feeling led by the Holy Spirit, Temple secured a vacant home and planted Pine Lakes Chapel, where they held their first service on October 17, 1976. During Rev. McGee’s tenure of 9 years, Temple saw God ordained growth and accomplished much under his leadership.

On May 25, 1980, coming from Blaney Baptist Church, Dr. James Salter began his pastorate at Temple Baptist. Under his strong and loving leadership, Temple would continue to see growth in membership, discipleship training and outreach. Due to his leadership efforts the need for expansion arose and plans were set into motion.
